Each of my one-day workshops features a different subject. I provide plenty of demonstration during the day. There’s nothing like watching someone show you at first hand how a particular technique can be achieved.
A typical workshop will feature tips on colour mixing ~ I work with a fairly limited palette so trying out different colour mixes is always useful, and popular. I also do most of the mixing on the page so there is plenty of opportunity to work wet-in wet.
We invariably work from photographic reference, which I provide, as the workshops are indoor-based. However, it’s not just a case of slavishly copying every detail in a photo. I’ll show you how to select the important parts of a scene and leave out the unnecessary detail. Simplifying what you see is one of the key points of the way I paint, which is loose and lively.
