David was born in East London and began drawing at a very early age. In his teens he discovered watercolour, and has been painting with this medium ever since.
After leaving school at 18, he began working as an illustrator, mainly of natural history subjects, which he continued to do for over twenty years.
Around the time of the Millennium he rediscovered his interest in painting with watercolours in a looser, more painterly style as opposed to his more detailed illustration work. Around this time he decided to take a qualification in teaching adults, which led to workshops and tutoring groups for painting holidays, which he continues to do.
David has worked on a number of art books and also regularly contributes articles to Leisure Painter magazine.
He also enjoys demonstrating to art clubs around the UK.
